Why Tenacious HR?

Tenacity is an attribute with universal appeal. Being tenacious is having grit and determination to persevere in pursuit of goals and to bounce back in the face of challenges or setbacks. It’s being agile, open to new directions, and always horizon scanning with a future focus. It’s the willingness to try something new, to learn from mistakes, and the readiness to try again.

Tenacity is not, however, being driven to achieve and persevere at all costs. Truly tenacious people and organizations take their physical, emotional and mental wellbeing seriously. They value opportunities to pause, take stock, and celebrate achievements, and in doing so, they build resilience and reinforce their tenacity.

At Tenacious HR, we work with organizations of all sizes, and our approach is to partner with you in building your tenacious muscle, as individuals, teams, or within the cultural DNA of your organization. Whether that’s working with you on organization development, inclusive employee engagement, complex employee relations matters, coaching or mentoring, leadership or management development, people policy and strategic reviews, we support you in building tenacity into what you are doing, and developing your tenacity in how you do it.

About Elaine

I’m an experienced HR leader with over 25 years of broad and varied HR experience, in the UK and globally across five continents. I spent my formative years in Retail, and then spent over 18 years at the BBC working across their various UK and global broadcasting operations, 5 years at Oxfam GB, and have undertaken voluntary work supporting individuals and smaller charities.

My stand-out achievements include being the Head of HR for the largest expansion of the BBC World Service since the 1940’s, and also co-leading the HR function of Oxfam GB through substantial organisational and cultural change since 2019, in support of their new 10 year strategy.

A loyal and supportive colleague, I care for and about others. I’m known for my strategic insights and trusted for my instincts. I thrive in environments where I can make a difference at a personal or organisational level, whatever the size or scope.

I have a Diploma in Organisational Development from Roffey Park, and am a Coach, a Counsellor and a Mentor.

A natural developer of others, I particularly enjoy championing people in early stages of their career and seeing them thrive.

I take a trauma-informed and data-led approach to my work and have an interest in supporting neurodivergent colleagues and colleagues experiencing burnout.

My style is collaborative, and I love building relationships and putting the ‘human’ into human resources.
